On 21st February, the 6th Annual Sports Day of Delhi Global School, Mawana, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and excitement.
The event commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Dhanishka Bhardwaj. This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp before Goddess Saraswati by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Poonam Bhardwaj, and the Special Guest, Ms. Mansvi Bhardwaj, formally inaugurating the sports meet.
All students participated in a disciplined and impressive march-past. Thereafter, the Principal, Mr. Purnendu Jha, administered the oath of sportsmanship and discipline to the young athletes.
During the event, kindergarten and primary students enthusiastically took part in fun races such as Ice Cream Race, Pyramid Race, Tom and Jerry Race, Friendship Race, Cake Race, School Bag Race, Lemon and Spoon Race, Pitcher Race, Sack Race, and Balance the Cone Race.
Students from Classes VI to XII showcased their athletic skills in track and field events including 100 m, 200 m, and 400 m races, Relay Race, Long Jump, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, and Tug of War.
The winners were awarded medals and certificates by the School Chairman, Dr. Karunesh Bhardwaj, along with the Principal, Mr. Purnendu Jha.
Adding colour to the event, students presented power-packed patriotic pyramid dances. The tiny tots of kindergarten displayed great enthusiasm through a rhythmic pom-pom dance, while students of Classes III to V impressed the audience with their acrobatic ribbon dance.
A vibrant Bhangra performance by middle-section students stole the hearts of all present.
The dance performances were choreographed under the guidance of Ms. Shikha.
Ms. Pragya, Ms. Ruby, and Ms. Unnati efficiently conducted the event as announcers.
The successful organization of the event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Vice Principal Mrs. Usha Sharma, Sports Coaches Mr. Vishal and Mr. Alam Rizvi, and Coordinators Ms. Upasna, Ms. Alaknanda, Mr. Atul, Ms. Bhawani, and Ms. Pragya.
Prize distribution was assisted by Ms. Sunita, Mr. Sumit, Mr. Shagun, Ms. Jyoti, and Ms. Shiwani, while the decoration committee was headed by Ms. Kaushal.
In his concluding address, the Principal expressed gratitude to the guests, teachers, and students, emphasizing that such events play a vital role in the holistic development of children and help nurture true sportsmanship.
